TULARE, CA – The 37th annual World Ag Expo, Feb. 10–12, 2004, will be bigger in acreage and larger in numbers of exhibitors than ever before.
With the physical expansion of the International Agri-Center showgrounds, Expo will grow to accommodate another 250 spaces in the Dairy Center.
"Once construction is completed, the Dairy Center will be the largest building in Tulare, " says Margaret Uchita, 2004 World Ag Expo chairperson. "It will be 80,000 square feet, the size of two football fields!"
Requests for exhibitor space in the Dairy Center have traditionally sold out by the July 4 prior to the event. "It is evident that we need to grow," Uchita emphasizes.
"We are proud of the quality of exhibitors and buyers our show continues to attract in ever-increasing numbers," general manager, Gary Schulz, says. "Just as we are proud of the caliber of our almost 1,000 Orange Jacket volunteers."
Visitors come in large numbers from around the world. Last year, 852 international visitors, representing 53 countries, had registered at the International Business Center. In addition, tens of thousands of agribusinessmen from across the country make World Ag Expo an annual pilgrimage.
In addition to equipment, product, technology and service sales, World Ag Expo has a reputation for being the site for ag education. Free seminars focus on topics such as ag terrorism, methane digesters, international trade and large-herd dairying.
Special presentations are on-going throughout the three days of the show, which is the largest farm trade show on the globe. A keynote speech by former White House chief of staff Leon Panetta as well as a another keynote speech by USDA Undersecretary, Dr. Joseph Jen, were two events during the 2003 show.
World Ag Expo provides tours of various agricultural enterprises including farms, dairies, processing plants, and other related businesses. Tours are offered February 10-12, 2004 and cost a small fee.
